Street Fighter 2 is one of the most popular games franchises of all time, and the father of one-on-one beat-em-ups.

Arguably the best conversion of Street Fighter 2, was the one released for the Super Nintendo. Whenever Ryu won a match, his tag line was 'You must defeat Sheng Long to stand a chance'. This led people to believe that Sheng Long was a character that could be faced in the game. Many rumours circulated regarding how to make Sheng Long appear, and finally a games magazine printed screenshots of Sheng Long fighting as a playable enemy.

The magazine issue however, was dated April 1st, and the whole thing, a hoax. Sheng Long does not exist; it is in fact a mis-translation of Ryu's 'Shoryuken' move.

Literally the wording should have been 'You must defeat my Dragon Punch to stand a chance'...

Nevertheless, everyone knows someone who claimed that they had in fact found, battled and indeed defeated Sheng Long.
