About this design

Released in 1989, the Gameboy was the world's first cartridge based handheld system. Despite it's monochrome screen, the Game Boy managed to fend off its colour, backlit competitors, the Atari Lynx and Sega's Game Gear. Its small size, durable build and longer battery life meant it was far more portable than the rivals.
