About this design

Inspired by the groundbreaking 1981 Nintendo classic, 'Donkey Kong', this awesome new shirt depicts a rather angry looking Gorilla running along girders and hurtling barrels at all and sundry. That is pretty much what gorillas are famous for doing nowadays.

The Donkey Kong game itself featured a similarly bizarre storyline in which you play a carpenter called 'Jumpman' (who later became a plumber called 'Mario'... you know the one) who has to rescue his girlfriend, 'Pauline' from his pet Gorilla. Donkey Kong was one of the first ever platform games and was fiendishly difficult for its time. The game and indeed it's main characters, were so popular that it put Nintendo on the map whilst spawning two massive franchises that are still being relentlessly milked to this day.

Still as playable today as it was almost three decades ago, Donkey Kong has seen a resurgence after the much publicised battle between its two top scoring players, Billy Mitchell and Steve Wiebe.

Donkey Kong is rated as the third most popular videogame of all time, by the Killer List of Videogames.
